It takes time

Weight loss (wellness) is a journey that takes time to achieve.  In my personal journey, I have needed to realize that it takes time to:

1.  Develop new thoughts about health, eating, physical fitness, etc.
Example:  realizing that we must take ownership for our wellness.

2.  Develop new ways of doing things (making thoughtful decisions that lead to health
Example:  choosing to make oven baked homemade French fries over deep fried French fries
Example:  choosing baked or sautéed fish over fried fish

3.  Get in the groove and move more
Example:  small changes with moving more make a big difference with shedding pounds and improving health

4.  See the pounds go down on the scale
Example:  Understand that weight loss, for me, means shedding 1/2 to 1 pound per week.

5.  Lose fat as muscles are getting stronger
Example:  Muscles weigh more than fat.  I may be losing inches before pounds

6.  Get over old habits
Example:  Eating from home more frequently is best for me

7.  Learn to grocery shop picking wholesome foods
Example:  Choosing nutritious foods over processed items

8.  Use available tools to help
Example:  There are many cell phone apps that promote wellness

Be encouraged.  Keep reminding yourself that wellness is a journey.  "Trust the process".
